Questions from FilePackager Users:
Who can use the FilePackager?
Every one can use this program, Using FilePackager no need
extra knowledge just basic user or advance user and any
one else. it easy to use with step by step wizard style,
it suit with any one who want to create a High quality SFX
Zip files that look sharp
Why?
The benefits of putting a group of files into a zip file
were obvious: a single file instead of many, quicker file
transfers, less required storage space and the assumption
that most users could get their hands on PKUnzip or WinZip
to unzip the contents. The assumption was correct, however
many users either had difficulty using the unzipping applications
or they didn't know where to unzip the files to. Some novice
users didn't even know what to do with zip files at all.
Even today, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT cannot
open zip files automatically unless an unzipping application
has been installed.
FilePackager creates Windows self-extracting Zip files.
These self-extracting Zip files are ideal for file distribution
because they:
1 can contain multiple compressed files, minimizing download
time and ensuring that important files do not become separated
from the rest of the package.
2 allow the receiver to use a familiar Windows interface
to decompress files, without owning or knowing how to use
a separate unzip utility; and
3 optionally run a "setup" or "installation" program, which
may be included by the developer when the files are decompressed.
4 inspire confidence and maximize end-user convenience.
5 create a quality system files installation in a minute.
and many other things normally beyond your control. |

I use multiple computers
do I need a license for each computer?
Yes, FilePackager requires a license per machine. Please
read The License Agreement
for more information. |

What is The SFX Module?
The SfxModule is use to create self-extracting zip files
instead of regular zip files, The binaries contain all the
code necessary to unzip files and display their user interface.
No external DLLs, support DLLs, components or applications
are required to run self-extracting zip files.
The 32-bit Module, which works on all Windows 95 (and up)
operating systems running on Intel 386-compatible CPUs.
It supports long filenames, multiple-disk spanning, encryption
passwords for individual files, displaying text files, running
another application, and more. (See the features list for
details). This binary will not work if files are compressed
with the BWT compression method.
The BWT Module file is the 32-bit binary, which is identical
to the 32-bit Module except that it can unzip files created
with the BWT compression method. This binary cannot unzip
files created with the Deflate method like the 32-bit Module
can.
The 16-bit Module, which works on 16-bit Windows 3.x as
well as Windows 95/98 2000 NT and Windows XP. It is more
compact than the 32-bit Module, but does not support long
filenames and uses a custom, non-Windows 95 style directory
browser. This binary will not work if files are compressed
with the BWT compression method. |

Can I create Self-Extracting
zip to protect from another user that I not allowed to extract
files?
Yes, To create a password-protected self-extracting Zip
file, simply use password protection on the standard Zip
file being used. FilePackager will automatically create
a password-protected self-extracting Zip file; the user
will be prompted for the password when the self-extracting
Zip file is run. Unless the correct password is supplied,
the files will not be extracted. If the standard Zip file
is not password-protected, then the self-extracting Zip
file won't be password-protected either. To create a password-protected
standard Zip file using FilePackager, Click 'Password button'
from the Zip Dialog and specify a password before Make Zip
files
we recommend your password should include alphameric,
and numeric for more secure password protect from utility
for password recover Such as WinZip password recover or
another application to crack or recover your password.

What is the difference
between a spanned and a split archive?
Internally, the files are the same. Both result in your
archive being created in multiple pieces. The primary difference
is in where the pieces are located when the archive is created.
A spanned archive will always be written to removable media.
A split archive will always be written to local storage
on your hard drive, rather than removable media. Split archives
may be divided into specified segment sizes, while spanned
archives will be created so that each segment fits into
the available space on each diskette. Split archives will
have special file extensions since they reside in the same
folder. |

|
What are the Spanning
Self-Extractor?
A spanned zip file is a zip file that is split into multiple
files, each located on a different floppy disk or other
removable media. Spanned zip files are usually created directly
to floppy disks or other removable media, in order to fill
up each disk as much as possible or as specified. Spanned
zip files allow a large zip file to be stored onto floppy
disks or other removable media that normally would not fit.
The difference between a spanned zip file and a multi-part
zip file is that a spanned zip file is created directly
onto the target disks (each disk contains one file, always
with the same filename) while a multi-part zip file is created
into any target file system folder, with each part of the
zip file having a different ( numbered) filename extension.
A multi-part zip file can be copied to disks at a later
time, but is not guaranteed to fit onto the disks nor to
take up the optimal amount of space available on each disk.

What is a split archive?
How do I create a split archive?
A split archive is a .ZIP file that is broken into smaller
segments. You may want to create a split file if you plan
to place the file onto removable media later or if you want
to place the files on a web page, allowing users to download
the archive in pieces (if the archive is large). This can
also be useful if you plan to send the archive as an e-mail
attachment and your mail system has restrictions on attachments.
You can create a split archive and send them individually.
To create a split file, create a new archive Click 'New'
button . Select the files to compress and the created file
will be automatically split into smaller sizes if necessary.
Important you must enter the number in byte
and this option is only for creating zip files only cannot
convert to self-extractor.

What are The BWT compression
method?
The BWT compression method is an implementation of the Burrows-Wheeler
Transform compression algorithm with Huffman encoding. It
was popularized by the UNIX and Linux BZip2 program.
It offers significantly better compression than Deflate
(the traditional PKZIP 2.04g compression method) but takes
longer to compress and decompress data. we tests have shown
BWT to often achieve between 20 to 30% better compression
than Deflate on many popular file types such as databases,
pictures, text and executable files.
The BWT compression method is based on the Libbzip2 library,
written by Julian Seward. Libbzip2 is a publicly available
compression library that can be downloaded from the following
URL:
Last known URL as of March 19th, 2002:
sources.redhat.com/bzip2/./#bzip2 BWT is considered
to be one of the most efficient compression algorithms for
compressing XML data.

file information you want stored in a zip file or retrieved
from a zip file. This option applies to the Zip and Unzip
methods only.

Store/Retrieve extended time-stamp information about a file
using a header format defined by PKWARE?. Time-stamp information
is stored in Windows NT format and includes the last modification
date and time, the last accessed date and time and the creation
date and time.
All time stamps (Info-Zip data format)
Store/Retrieve extended time-stamp information about a file
using a header format defined by the Info-Zip group. Time-stamp
information is stored in UNIX format and includes the last
modification date and time, the last accessed date and time
and the creation date and time.
Windows NT file security and permissions
